Purebred Red Angus Cattle
The Holliday Ranch bought their original purebred Red Angus herd from the Blue Jay baseball team in 1978. Over the past 35 years the bulls have become genetically-wired to breed high quality calves with *Low Birth Weight, *High Daily Gain, and *High Weaning Weights. The low birth weights of 50-60lbs allows calving ease and ensures less problems for the birthing mothers. The calves have a daily gain average of 3lbs, giving them an incredible heavy weaning weight average of 500lbs. This allows ranchers to save more cattle during calving and still receive a high profit at sale.
Our cattle are not pampered or barn kept, they are strong and hard working, free range fed through the summer on 40,000 acres of Forest Service permit land, and wintered on meadow ground while fed a previous year's hay mix. This raising environment gives our cattle independent survival skills and durable healthy hooves. Seed Heifers
- Our seed heifer benefit greatly from their ability to find feed on their own and develop hearty hoof and body structure. They are most known for their calm nature and quality (high marbling) milk production. They weigh 1,100-1,300lbs when fully matured and have the advantage of a roomy pelvis for calving ease. - We have approximately 80 purebred Red Angus seed heifers to sell each year.
